People often ask me “Where do I begin to advertise my business?”

Well, there is no magic answer.

I recommend trying those things that interest you whether it be seo techniques, writing articles, using traffic exchanges, email marketing, pay-per-click campaigns, or social networking, just to name a few different strategies.

However, there is one strategy that seems to work to jump start your advertising, and can get your web site on the first page of Google in 24 hours or less.

It’s done simply by writing a press release. Writing press releases about the product or service you are promoting is an effective way to get you and your web site noticed. Marketing is all about developing a brand and it is just as important to get people to know, like, and trust you as it is for them to be interested in what you are selling.

Take myself for example. Google my name “Gary Chappelle” and you will find pages and pages of search results that demonstrate to people that I am a real person with extensive experience in the internet marketing world. If people develop trust in you then you have won half the battle when it comes to marketing online.

I recently wrote a press release on DirectMatches.com about how we just added a 9th income stream to ACME People Search. I made sure I included information about ACME People Search, how long the company had been offered to affiliates, and some of the benefits of the business in addition to talking about the new income stream. I wrote it like a news article and there was no hard sell at all. It was all just informational.

I then added my web site address in case anyone was interested in finding out more about me or the business.

My web site appeared on the first page of Google within 24 hours.
